TOWN OF
ALL HAZARD
MITIGATION PLAN PUBLIC HEARING
The October 10, 2006 All Hazard Mitigation Plan Public
Hearing was called to order by Chairman Jerry Pohlman at 7:30PM at the Crane
Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall with the Pledge of Allegiance recited by those in
attendance including: Supervisors Butch
Eggen and Jerry Pohlman, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Treasurer Terrie Hoff, a
reporter from the Voyageur Sentinel and 10 members of the community. Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.
BUSINESS
Chairman Jerry explained that the Arrowhead Regional
Development Commission and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department coordinated
the St. Louis County All Hazard Mitigation Plan, which was approved by
FEMA/HSEM on March 1, 2005 and adopted by the
He further explained that the Town Board of
Supervisors’ at their April 12, 2005 meeting voted by motion to approve the
following two goals as applicable to our community:
Goal
2.1 – Ensure the maintenance of a transportation infrastructure resilient to
flooding events. A strategy that we feel is being implemented in
this direction is our Town’s representation by a community member to the
International Rainy Lake Board of Control.
Goal
4.1 – Reduce the risk of wildfire damaging property and causing injury or
death. A strategy that we feel is being
implemented in this direction is that the Crane Lake Volunteer Fire Department,
which the Town has contracted with for fire protection, has expanded efforts to
educate area residents through the FireWise Program.
