BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING

MAY 3, 2005

 

The Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was held on Tuesday, May 3, 2005.  Chairman Jerry Pohlman called the meeting to order at 2:20PM.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, including: Supervisors Jerry Pohlman and Mark Anderson, Treasurer Butch Eggen, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Township Assessor Richard Vidmar, St. Louis County Representative Dan Christianson and five members of the community.  Supervisor Jim Janssen was absent.

 

Appeals of those present were heard prior to appeals received by letter and fax.

 

Gordon and Bonnie Rue, Parcel Code 308-0030-00750, appealed the proposed increase in valuation of their property.  Their property is on Johnson Lake and Mr. Vidmar thought they may have been caught in the increase of Crane Lake valuations. A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Mark to follow Mr. Vidmar’s recommendation to roll back the Rue estimated land valuation from $202,200 to the 2005 estimate of $175,800 with a request for a review of the property by Mr. Vidmar.  Motion carried.

 

Robert Scott, Parcel Codes 308-0030-3229, 308-0070-00010, 308-0070-00320, 308-0150-00015, 308-0150-00020, 308-0150-00030, 308-01150-00162 and 308-0150-00163, questioned the classification of his property.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jerry, to review the Rob Scott property classifications.  Motion carried.  This will be addressed at the Reconvened Meeting.

 

Warren Bradbury, Parcel Codes 308-0060-00570, 308-0060-00580, and 308-0060-00590, questioned the difference in valuations of his three parcels.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jerry, to move site  and building valuations from Parcel Code 308-0060-00590 to 308-0060-00580 at the recommendation of Mr. Vidmar.  Motion carried.

 

Ward McDonald, Parcel Codes 308-0030-01578 and 308-0030-01576, questioned valuation of his vacant property.  A motion was made by Mark, supported by Jerry, to review the property of record.  Motion carried.  This will be addressed at the Reconvened Meeting.

 

New construction within the Township was presented to the Board for review by St. Louis County Representative Dan Christianson.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Mark, for Mr. Vidmar to review the new construction on the properties of Randal Stern, DSR Sales and Pine Point Lodge.  A report will be sent to the Board prior to the Reconvened Meeting.  Motion carried.

 

There being no other requests from Crane Lake residents regarding property valuations, a motion was made by Mark, supported by Jerry, to recess the Board of Appeals and Equalization Meeting at 3:35PM and to reconvene on May 18, 2005 at 2PM at the Crane Lake Chapel Fellowship Hall.  Motion carried.
