BOARD OF APPEAL & EQUALIZATION MEETING

MAY 1, 2007

 

The Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of the Town of Crane Lake was held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.  Chairman Jerry Pohlman called the meeting to order at 2:00PM.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by those in attendance, including: Supervisors Jerry Pohlman, Jim Janssen, and Butch Eggen, Treasurer Terrie Hoff, Clerk Jo Ann Pohlman, Township Assessor Richard Vidmar, and St. Louis County Representative Dan Christianson.

 

The following letters were presented for appeal.

 

Beth M. Johnstone, Parcel Code 308-0030-05005 & 308-0150-00320 requested that the homestead classifications be changed on her properties.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jim, to change Parcel Code 308-0030-05005, Records 1 and 2, from totally commercial homestead to relative homestead commercial, mixed use, which will now be in Thera Anderson’s name.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, to change Parcel Code 308-0150-00320, Records 1 and 2, from non-homestead to homestead resort in Trent & Beth Bak’s name.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Robert D. Congdon, Parcel Code 308-0000-00240 requested a decrease in valuation on his mobile home.  A motion was made by Butch, supported by Jerry, to decrease the valuation on Robert Congdon’s mobile home from $13,300 to $7,000 due to the age of the mobile home.  Total property valuation changed from $26,700.00 to $18,400.00; a decrease of $8,300.00.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Richard & Nancy Harvey, Parcel Code 308-0030-01845, questioned the valuation of their property.  The Board discussed the Harvey’s valuation in relation to other properties in the area and agreed that it was fair.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, that the Harvey’s valuation remain the same and that Rick Vidmar write a letter to the Harvey’s explaining the reason for valuation levels in Crane Lake.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Fred & June Huting, Parcel Code 308-0030-01579, questioned the valuation of their property. The Board discussed the Huting’s valuation in relation to other properties in the area and agreed that it was fair.  A motion was made by Jerry, supported by Jim, that the Huting’s valuation remain the same.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

Jeff & Lori Sanborn, Parcel Code 308-0240-00011, requested changes were made prior to the meeting.  A motion was made by Jim, supported by Jerry, that the records remain the same as changes were made prior to the meeting.  All voted in favor and the motion carried.

 

No list of Crane Lake Building Permits 2007 Assessment was presented for Board consideration.
